Treating Trigger Points
First, I would like to share a description of a trigger point. A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may produce referred pain to the neck. The neck, acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in another region of the body like the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache.

Benefits of Using Essential Oils
It is not uncommon to use aromatherapy to help relieve symptoms of trigger points. Aromatherapy is intended to heal the pain by first healing the person’s mind, body, and soul. Essential oil, creams or lotions are applied directly on the skin and absorbed into the system. The aroma of these natural oils can also stimulate healing through the mucus membrane and then distribute throughout the systems that moderate the body.
Essential Oils and How They Work
For relief from stiff sore muscles, black pepper, peppermint, winter green, eucalyptus, rosemary, and rose oil can be used.
Black pepper as an essential oil has shown to be effective with constipation and digestive issues and heart health.
Eucalyptus is used for respiratory and digestive ailments
Peppermint for digestive issues like, heart burn and indigestion as well as constipation, liver disease, and respiratory issues.
Rosemary is used for mental health and can often be found in hair care products. Rosemary comes as a beautiful plant and to get the smell out of living rosemary, all you do is take the leaves and rub them to smell the aroma.
Rose Oil (one of my favorites) creates balance and harmony and puts you in a calm and relaxed mood.
Other essential oils for relaxation and pain relief consist of chamomile, jasmine, and lavender oil. An added benefit of chamomile is strengthening a person’s immune system. Besides smelling so good, jasmine is used to restore energy. Another favorite of mine which is used for so many purposes is lavender oil. As soon as you open the bottle you immediately begin to feel relaxed. Lavender is especially good for headaches, restoring good energy, and with helping with insomnia. I will put many drops on my pillow at night just to help me sleep. Other oils used to restore energy are geranium, lemon, and grapefruit. Geranium helps with the circulatory system and nerve disorders. Lemonis an antitoxin. It also helps calm the nervous system. Grapefruit is also an antitoxin and helps with weight control. Finally, to remove negative energy that could be causing pain another recommendation is using sea salt or Epsom salts in your bath water.
