New Braunfels Chiropractor, Dr. Vanessa Vajdos

New Braunfels chiropractor Dr. Vanessa Vajdos

"I knew drugs were not the answer!"

After many years of running professionally, Dr. Vajdos won the 1980 Houston marathon and was on her way to the 1981 World Championships when she woke up in pain and was in danger of not being able to run.  She first went to a top orthopedic surgeon that prescribed drugs as the solution.  Because she had practiced as a Doctor of Pharmacy for many years and knowing alternatives did exist, Vanessa knew drugs were not a healthy, long term solution to her issue with pain and her up coming race.  So, determined to get answers and relief, she rushed into her first chiropractic treatment and as a result placed 10th in the World Championships that year.  Needless to say, she was hooked!

Growing increasingly frustrated with the "drug" culture in medicine and after a personal recovery from injury through good chiropractic treatment, Dr. Vajdos realized that being a chiropractor would enable her to help people reach optimum health naturally rather than using harmful drugs to treat symptoms. Now she tells anyone who will listen, she has found her true calling, Wellness.

Education:

Vanessa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Texas in 1974. After a nine year career as a pharmacist Vanessa applied for and was accepted into the Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas.  Upon graduation in 1986, Vanessa became certified in Sports Injury, Acupuncture, Activator Technique, Cervical Spine Trauma and X-Ray Analysis. She has practiced in Houston, TX, Seattle, WA and now has her own practice in New Braunfels, Texas.

Community:

"I followed in my dad's footsteps with a love of gardening.  My father, Joseph Vajdos, graduated from the University of Texas A&M with a degree in agriculture and so as a young girl I learned the basic of farming which has turned into a love in my life.  I obtained certification as a Master Gardener from the state of Texas and continue to enjoy the craft."

Dr. Vanessa is an active member of both the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Chamber of Commerce and strives to be a  positive influence in the community.

Dr. Vanessa Asks some important questions of interest to New Braunfels residents - Chiropractor New Braunfels Dr. Vanessa Asks...

Why are some people allergic to pollen and others aren't?
It's not the pollen. Chiropractors know that if it were, everyone would be allergic to pollen, nuts and pet dander. But that's not the case. It's the person, not the pollen! If you live in New Braunfels and your stress levels are high, then each year the grass, the trees or the weeds put your nervous system over the top. Many report that chiropractic care helps reduce the frequency and severity of their allergic response.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a New Braunfels parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
